The Start of Something Beautiful...

This was originally written on the 3rd of January 2005 and posted on an obscure blog where it was viewed by 18 people in just over 6 years. I can only hope it receives that kind of exposure here... Editing? I've added a picture.

This right here is my first blog.  Until now I have been a blogging virgin.  I've blown my metaphorical spuff over my friends in the form of mass mails, but this is not the same I have been told.  So a couple of days a week I will be unloading my sack in your direction.

I looked briefly at the tone of blogs.  Tough one to pin down.  There seemed to be a 50/50 split between sense 'n' sex.  I can deal with that.  It seems the spectrum of blogs is directly proportionate to the diversity of Earth itself.

...I spent 15 minutes choosing the colour of my header, not sure what that says about me.I returned to England today to be met by miserable weather, more miserable people, sanity eroding daytime television and an occupied washing machine.  Not quite reason enough to go Postal, but still acutely irritating.

Of most concern to me at the moment is the Popes health.  Not being religious by any stretch of the imagination my consern is purely a curious one.  Apart from bouts of age related ill health he lives a lavish life and promotes the embrace of pain.  When he dies, and he will, soon, I DARE the world to act crazy like they didn't see it coming.

All British Television networks have hours of 'Pope lament' documentaries to inflict on us, debates about the process of Pope selection, the breakdown of the funeral service by priests, designers and celebrity chefs.  Something that took literally days to prepare after the untimely Hollywood rolling car passing of Princess Di.

I'll just have to wait and see.  However, not being affiliated to the chap or his church means I can masturbate at my leisure with a clear conscience.

Footnote - Just 4 years after my prediction it turned out I was wrong, no one cared he died.
